If you own a 2006 or older diesel use approved API CI-4 + diesel oil. For 2006 model year and older you may use either one of the following full Synthetic Oil’s:

AME 15W-40 - This is AMSOIL's top selling oil overall. You can use this oil in any gasoline or diesel engine (previous to 2007 models.) AME is an excellent all purpose synthetic fleet oil that will typically meet most of your fleets demands.
ACD 10W-30/SAE 30 - This synthetic oil can be used where a 10W-30 or straight 30 weight oil is desired. This is very good economical choice and like AMSOIL's 15W-40 synthetic oil is an excellent fleet oil.

There are new rules in affect beginning in the 2007 model year for all diesel applications. Stricter EPA guidelines are now calling for a new specification on all diesel oils. The spec is classified as CJ-4 and it must be used in 2007 diesel engines or you will cause harm to your engine.
AMSOIL's recommendations are as follows:
For all 2007 and newer diesel vehicles the following oil must be used: DEO 5W-40 and DME 15W-40 - These are AMSOIL's newest Synthetic Oils and they meet the newest CJ-4 oil specifications. The use of any other oil in 2007 diesel equipment not meeting CJ-4 will cause harm to your engine and in particular the DPM filter. DPM stands for Diesel Particulate Matter and is a highly sophisticated filter designed to clean the exhaust gases before it enters the atmosphere. This filter can become severely clogged if the wrong oil is used in your engine. You might look at a by-pass filter as an addition to your engine’s security system. Your regular oil filter passes the full flow of oil from the pump and removes particles bigger than about 20 to 30 microns. Left in the oil, particles smaller than this size can contribute to ring, liner and bearing wear. These same particles can also contribute to engine deposits, which can hurt engine performance and induce oil consumption.
If the regular “full-flow” filter were designed to filter smaller particles, there would be a risk of insufficient oil flow through the engine as particles accumulated in the filtering media of the full-flow filter element. In fact, regular filters come equipped with a “relief” valve, to allow some of the oil to by-pass them completely. These valves insure the proper flow of oil is maintained to protect the engine, even if the filter media accumulates enough material to cause excessive pressure drop across the filter, or the oil is too thick to pass through it fast enough.
By-pass filters are an addition to the regular oil filter. They take only a portion of the oil pump’s flow, and can therefore be more efficient in removing even smaller particles than 5 microns. Eventually, all of the oil gets circulated through the by-pass element. Removing particles smaller than 20 microns is another step in reducing the risk of engine wear, and can also help in reducing risk of oil viscosity increase.
A side benefit of a by-pass filter is that it usually increases the amount of oil necessary to fill the engine oil system. More oil means contaminants are less concentrated and likely to cause harm to the engine. More oil also means more additives are available to neutralize contaminants and protect vital engine parts.
By-pass oil filters can add to your line of defense against engine wear and deposits, helping maintain engine performance and long engine life.
